Central to Health Chiropractors
Dr. Rebecca Bowring
As long as I can remember I have wanted to be a Chiropractor. When I was about 6 years old I hurt my neck whilst attempting a world record monkey-bar routine and before I knew it I was whisked off to Mr Barnes our family Chiropractor for just the adjustment to get me back to mischief-making. Mum still reckons if it wasn’t for him she would not be able to walk and as he was a very elderly gentleman, someone had to pick up the baton & keep her in shape!
I started my formal Chiropractic education at NSW University in 1989 and graduated with a Masters in Chiropractic from Macquarie in 1993. Throughout this time I also studied various forms of Chiropractic technique, in particular SOT, the technique I am now certified to teach to other Chiropractors & students...
Since ’93 I have worked in various practices throughout Sydney & in the UK where I spent time with my now husband Darren Little. Darren & I returned to Sydney in 1999 & established the Central To Health practices in Artarmon & Surry Hills. In August 2004 we welcomed the newest member to the Central To Health team, our daughter Saffron, followed in 2007 by her little brother Quincy.
I now am consulting in each practice part-time and spend the remainder of my time marvelling at the growth & development of our great kids who are lucky enough to enjoy excellent health in part due to great Chiropractic health care & a toxin-free lifestyle.

“Become a Doctor, you have an interest in science,” was my parents advice during high school. But it wasn’t until I looked into Chiropractic and found that it dealt with the restoration and maintenance of health, rather than battling with pain and illness that I was convinced this was the profession and philosophy for me.
After completing a Bachelor of Science degree at Sydney University and then the two year Masters in Chiropractic at Macquarie University, I started practice as an associate in Bondi Junction in 1996. Between 1997 & 1999, I lived & worked in England & Wales, establishing numerous practices in a part of the world so new to Chiropractic.
At the end of 1999, together with my wife Rebecca, we decided to put down roots in our home town and opened the practices in Surry Hills and Artarmon. Dr. Rebecca and I have been able to juggle the ‘work together/live together’ scenario very well, sharing the dual location effectively...
Our daughter Saffron was born in 2004 and had her first Chiropractic check-up and adjustment at 3hrs old. Quincy arrived 3 years later and it wasn’t long before we realised the difference between girl & boy toddlers. Needless to say, Quincy has been a lot more tough on his body, fearless in fact and we are thankful that despite the many thrills and spills he can benefit from balanced structure and properly functioning nervous system. We joke that he is just testing the immense talents of our paediatric team! Both kids continue to be adjusted regularly and epitomise and enjoy a natural healthy lifestyle.
In 2008 I took on the role of President of SOTO-Australasia (the body responsible for the teaching and organisation of SOT within Australasia), and in 2011 I was elected President of SOTO-International. I spend time each year meeting with International chiropractors, sharing our knowledge & expertise and instructing Chiropractors and students around the world in the practice of SOT chiropractic.

My first adjustment by a Chiropractor was when I was 7 years old, for chronic ear infections. I saw Chiropractors regularly after that and when I was 16 years old I realised that I wanted to share the benefits I had received from chiropractic with others.
I studied chiropractic at PIT in Melbourne and graduated in 1992 working in a family practice in Mosman for 6 years and then in a corporate practice in London for 7 years. In 2004 when my wife Nicola & I were expecting the birth of our gorgeous daughter Ella we decided that home was Australia so made our way back to sunny Sydney.
Now I am back doing what I like best, family practice, at Artarmon. I enjoy providing Chiropractic care for the entire family and believe it is important to show how good spinal health can ensure that everyone can have a better quality of life and contribute to the wellbeing of the whole family.
In 2006 the Conti clan expanded once more and little Bianca was born. It was about this time that the office in Artarmon expanded into the shop next door. I’m sure it was just to accommodate all the extra baby pictures!

My father, who is a dentist back in the UK, was the first person to suggest to me a career in Chiropractic. He had a great understanding of the workings of the central nervous system and how it impacted on health. I qualified as a chiropractor sixteen years ago and studied many different techniques, including Cranial and SOT. More recently I am completing a Masters Degree in Paediatrics from the University of Wales.
I first met Darren & Bec in 1997 when we were working in the same busy practice in North London. On arriving in Sydney for what has become a massive “Sea-Change” for myself and my family, I leaped at the chance to join the team at Artarmon. My special interests include paediatrics, geriatrics and nutrition.
I am currently settling into my new home on the leafy lower North Shore with my husband Peter and our two children, Oliver (14) and Louie (6) and we have been embracing the wonderful Australian summer, taking up waterskiing and bushwalking.
I am available for appointments from Monday to Saturday.

Chiropractic has always been a part of my family's health. Four generations of my family have benefited from Chiropractic care; from my Grandmother, (who credited her Chiropractor with giving her back the use of her arms) to my youngest niece (who was checked within the first days of life, just because she was born) and everyone in between. It is a reminder that Chiropractic is essential at all stages of life.
Growing up, you could say I was a "Chiro Kid". Regular adjustments kept me in tip-top shape, despite super-girl antics on my BMX and climbing trees. As I got older, a lifetime of Chiropractic care instilled a deep appreciation of natural healthcare and this eventually led me to embark on five years of Chiropractic studies at Macquarie University, and later, further studies in Sacro-Occipital Technique.
Everyday I am reminded that I work in the best profession in the world, helping others to reach their full potential. I derive a great deal of satisfaction from the profound difference that Chiropractic makes to my patients. Nowhere is that truer than with pregnant mums, new bubs and kids. Removing interference from rapidly growing nervous systems, gives kids the best possible start in life.
Outside of work, a thirst for the good life has led me on lots of travel adventures, experiencing as much food and culture as I could squeeze in. Most recently, I have been lapping up the sunshine in Queensland where I have been helping lots of families live healthier lives. I'm excited to be back home in Sydney, to carry on this work.

It was at the age of 15 that I first decided I would love to be a chiropractor. Every step taken after making this decision was set towards completing this goal. My cousin is a chiropractor and runs a booming practice in Ballarat and it was he who really got me onto the right path and found me a chiropractor in Geelong to begin care with. Because I did not have any aches or pains, I began chiropractic wellness care and aimed to improve the function of my body and my nervous system. I wanted to improve my health and wellbeing and knew that being free of nervous system interference would allow my body work optimally.
I grew up in Geelong but moved to Melbourne in 2005 to study. Whilst at university I met my husband, Robert, who is also a chiropractor. Together we look forward to a long career, inspiring others to live healthier lives. This comes from natural living, allowing our bodies to heal themselves by providing it with the best possible environment. Great health allows us to live our lives to the full. If we are healthy we can live long and enjoy being able to run after our children and then run after our grandchildren and maybe even our great-grandchildren.
I have a special interest in women’s health; including pre-natal care and paediatric care. I have recently acquired certification in Applied Kinesiology and plan to complete a degree in Midwifery in the future, to further support women during this amazing journey.
